I’m a native Oregonian born in Eugene on July 25, 1955. I showed an interest in cars at an early age—my first birthday present was a toy truck. Growing up, one of my favorite pastimes was to help my father work on the family cars. By the time I was 12 years old I was disassembling and rebuilding motors. My father was a “car nut,” and we made many trips to watch a variety of motor sports, from go-kart racing to sports car prototypes to “Indy car” racing, but my favorite type of racing to see was, and still is, drag racing.

I got my first Volvo in 1973 at age 18—a 1958 PV 444, and it was love at first sight. I had never seen anything quite like it. There weren’t very many Volvos on the street then, and I had a car like nobody I knew had. I quickly discovered that Volvos are like potato chips—you can never have just one! Another thing that appealed to me was the fact that Volvos were built in Sweden, and my paternal grandfather was born in Sweden.

I became so enthusiastic about Volvos that I talked my father into buying a Volvo for the family car; he never bought another make of passenger car again. I also have a sister and brother-in-law that drive only Volvos. Over the years I’ve owned at least 14 Volvos of different models, ranging from 1957 to 1989. It gives me great satisfaction to keep the “veteran” Volvos on the road, and I’ve worked at a number of shops In the Eugene-Springfield area. I’ve also been a member of the Volvo Club of America since 1982, and was one of 12 local club members to start the Pacific Northwest chapter of V.C.O.A..

I have been A.S.E.-certified in the areas of engine repair, brakes, suspension, steering, manual transmissions, and drive axles. I bring a love of automobiles, especially Volvos, to my job and a genuine concern that our customers will be pleased with the overall experience of letting our company service their fine Swedish automobiles.
