Tech Tips

In this section we offer tips for using and maintaining your Subarus and Volvos so you can get the most from your vehicle. Some of these tips have been supplied by our staff and some by our customers. Feel free to contact us to submit a tip you have, that's not already listed.

Subaru Tips

Cancel Trunk Lever - On newer model Subarus there is a switch on that latch inside the truck. When it is flipped down it will disable the trunk pull lever inside the vehicle. This acts as a security device so even if someone breaks into your car, they don't have access to your trunk.

Snow Cables - It is recommended you use cables and not chains as a traction device for your Subaru. If you do use cables or chains it is recommended to use them on all four tires so you do not damage the all wheel drive system.

Disable Beep - On all year 2K+ models you can disable the beep that happens when you lock the car from the inside and shut the door. This is done by pressing both the lock and unlock buttons on the key fob simultaneously.

Volvo Tips

S60 Tire Rub - It's common, they all do it with the stock tire size. The brand of tire makes a difference. Volvos come with Pirellis as they have a narrow tread block. Your easiest “fix” is to add 5mm spacers to the front wheels, on most Volvos this cures the rubbing!
